Don’t Judge a Book by its Cover or your Date…

Throughout the years blind dates have always been a successful means of meeting someone new. For those of you who are unfamiliar the term “blind date” it does not refer to being blind folded while on a date. Blind dating is defined as meeting someone for a date that you have never met before. These dates are usually organized by two friends (usually the opposite sex) who have a friend that’s single, and both friends decide to introduce their friend through a date.
On the 4th of July I was at a popular event held in Tempe, Arizona with a good friend of mine. She introduces me to her sorority sister who happened to be very good looking and single. After talking for a while I decided to mention my golf partner to her. He was a 29 year old male law student who also is single. We decided it was a perfect opportunity to arrange a blind date. I called my golf partner and told him if he could meet up with a nice girl I had met for him to go on a blind date with , he happily agreed.
The two decided to meet at Barnes and Noble since they were going on a date on the following Tuesday and there wasn’t much to do during the weekdays. They were just going to relax get to know each other and have some coffee. As Tuesday came my friend arrived ten minutes early to the bookstore and to his surprise his date was their waiting on the couch. He noticed her as very attractive from clear across the store and decided to send me a quick text saying “thanks a lot man she’s hot”. I was sitting at home relaxing when I receive the text message and I remember feeling a small sense of accomplishment. As my friend got closer he realized she had selected a book to read while she was waiting. He got within a few steps of her and saw the title of the book “How to Deal with my STD”. Upon noticing the title he immediately made a beeline right turn down the next isle and gathered himself for some personal time. After calming down from his abrupt laughter and hysterics he decided to leave the store. He drove home leaving his date sitting there on the couch. After hearing the story I gave him the advice he should at least talked to her……....ear

  1. What a funny story. I have to admit, I probably would have done the same thing.

  2. Oh my goodness!! What an embarrassing and humiliating moment for both of them. I'm in a committed relationship now, but this is exactly why I used to never let anybody set me up on blind dates. You just never know what you're going to get.

  4. Poor girl! But you know, she should really know better than to be reading a book like that while waiting for a date. Maybe go back when you're not about to meet someone for the first time, huh?

  5. Oof- maybe she picked it up on accident? What a book to be holding...maybe she was trying to be funny?

  6. I laughed while reading this. My youngest son would have done that just to test the metal of the blind date. His thinking is if she has the cohones to walk up to him, sit down at the table, and address the book he is reading, then she is worth his time to date. Something to think about. Don't know what I would do though. Hmmm.

  7. I think I saw a story like this on FML. But I don't think none of us can say we haven't had our weird encounters.

  8. Maybe she should "deal with her STD" before she goes out on blind dates? Just a thought. But this is exactly why I don't allow my friends to set me up. There's just too much of a risk that it's going to be a disaster.

  10. I would have left as well. There is some "baggage" from relationships that people can never truly get rid of.

  11. Oh, that is rough. I probably would have asked her about her choice in literature before booking it.

  12. That's pretty great. Maybe the book was on the table before she sat down?

  13. Haha, oh man that is funny! Maybe she was just testing him out to see if he still had the guts to talk to her even when she's holding that book.

  14. If I were that guy I would not have been able to resist the temptation of teasing her on her book choice. But I'm mean.
